What’s Happening In Lafayette This December

The holiday season is the ideal time to participate in Lafayette events and prepare for festivities. Check out a few of these offerings in the Lafayette area that you’re sure to enjoy.

Holiday Ornaments From Open Space

  • Dec. 2
  • 1:00 pm to 3:00pm
  • The Collective – Community Arts Center – 201 N. Public Rd

Children 8 and older can participate in this event when accompanied by an adult. Create a grass wreath, milkweed mouse, willow star, a teasel pendant, or a truly unique holiday ornament. The cost is $9, but space is limited to register soon.

The center supplies all the things you need to make a take-home holiday craft such as plant materials, felt, wool, ribbon, eyes, and some hot glue guns and scissors. Bring the kids or come alone and craft a holiday memory.

Family Outing on Coal Creek

  • Dec. 9
  • 1:00pm – 2:30pm
  • Coal Creek

This free event is a great way to spend time with family in the outdoors. Children 8 years of age and older can accompany parents on a scenic wintery walk along Coal Creek Trail.

Naturalist Martin Ogle will point out notable animals, plants, and trees along the way. Take a break from the holiday rush and enjoy one of the best things Colorado offers – the great outdoors!

Deadline For Santa’s Calling

  • Dec. 7
  • 8:00am – 5:00pm

If you haven’t added your children’s names to Santa’s list yet, you still have time. Registration for Santa’s Calling runs all day on December 7th.

Santa’s elves call Lafayette children between 6 and 8 pm on December 12th and 13th. The cost is $3 per child, but you’ll need to fill out the official North Pole questionnaire for each child first to make it happen.

Seniors Center Holiday Potluck

  • Dec. 14
  • 11:00am – 2:00pm
  • Senior Services – 103 S. Iowa Ave

This is a great opportunity for those young and old to show some holiday spirit. Enjoy scrumptious treats and teas, listen to holiday tunes, and join a singalong.

If you’re over 55 years of age, lucky you! The event is free. Those under 55 years of age or from other communities pay a modest $10 fee. Get out and mingle with people of all ages for some holiday fun.
