What’s Happening near Lafayette This Month?

Greetings and Happy Valentine’s Day! However (and with whomever) you choose to spend Valentine’s Day, the team at Young Insurance hopes you’ll remind your loved ones how much they mean to you this February and that you have a safe, fun time. Below are some activities we think you’d enjoy, either by yourself or with someone special.

SPAN Chocolate Lovers’ Fling

Do you love chocolate? Would you like to support a great cause? We hope the answer to both those questions is an easy “yes!” On February 9, Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN) is hosting its annual Chocolate Lovers’ Fling, a night of dinner, drinking, dancing and of course, chocolate sampling! Come to the Omni Interlocken Hotel in Broomfield and treat yourself! Tickets are $150. Along with getting to enjoy handcrafted chocolate, one of the tastiest delicacies on the planet, you’ll be helping SPAN provide support for survivors of intimate partner violence.

Just Between Friends Huge Kids’ Sale

Does it seem like as soon as you buy clothes for your kids they grow out of them? Get those too-small things they’ll never wear again out of the way, while making some money to buy them new things at the same time! Just Between Friends is hosting its Huge Kids’ Sale at the Adams County Fairgrounds in Brighton from February 7-10 and at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont from February 14-17. You can consign your new or gently-used clothes, games, toys or other kids’ items, and make 60% of the profit! Of course, you’re welcome to just have fun shopping and get some great deals on stuff your kids need. Tickets are free, so get yours now!

Midday Music Meditation

Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is take time away from work to gather our thoughts, regroup and relax. On the second Wednesday of every month at noon, the Boulder Public Library hosts a free Midday Music Mediation, which features soothing live music meant to help you meditate and unwind. On Wednesday, February 13, stop by the Boulder Public Library and see how much taking a break from your hectic schedule to center your thoughts will revitalize you and make you calmer and more productive—in short, a better you!

Backcountry Film Festival

Natural beauty is one of our country’s greatest assets. The Backcountry Film Festival is designed to celebrate the majesty of our natural landscapes, encourage people to protect them, and be a gathering of those who enjoy backcountry snow sports. It features a variety of films which capture the spirit and magic of winter. Come to Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder on February 21 at 7:00 p.m. to meet some like-minded people and enjoy films which showcase the beauty of nature in wintertime. The price for members of the Colorado Mountain Club is $12 and the non-member price is $15.
